Sunday December 29th was Father David Rickey's last Sunday with us (as Rector) before he left to make his home in Haiti. But before he left the Bishop of California had one message to pass on...
Whereas, the Rev. David Rickey has shepherded the congregation of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, San Francisco, leading them through profound transitions:
The transformation of their earthquake-damaged historic property into a much-praised home for severely disabled adults;
Their move to the Interfaith Chapel in the Presidio, following their call to serve Christ in a religiously and culturally diverse population in the Bay Area;
And their move to be in partnership with Trinity Church, San Francisco, an alliance full of creative tension and possibilities;
And, Whereas, the Rev. David Rickey has served, while pastoring St. Peter’s, the Episcopal Senior Communities’ Spring Lake Village as chaplain;
And, Whereas, in retirement the Rev. David Rickey is going even deeper into the life of Christian servant leadership by moving to Haiti,
Now be it therefore known that I proclaim today, Sunday the twenty-ninth of December, 2013 to be, in the Diocese of California, a day of thanksgiving for the ministry of the Rev. David Rickey.
